Simple Tuner with No Ads

On the line, in tune.

Simple Tuner with No Ads is a free chromatic tuner for iPhone: no ads at all, no sign-up and no settings screen. A line for every semitone scrolls with the note you play, and in tune the note sits right on its line.

Free · No ads or in-app purchases · iPhone with iOS 17 or later · Coming soon to the App Store

What it does

A line for every semitone

The lines scroll with your pitch while the note head stays in the middle. Its distance from the line of its note is how far off you are, so you see at a glance whether to go up or down.

Green, white or red

Within ±5 cents the cents and the note turn green; within ±15 cents they are white; beyond that, red. The number of cents is always exact, to the whole cent.

Calm, not jumpy

It smooths small flickers while a note holds, and follows at once when your pitch moves. The lines glide between measurements and never past them.

From bass to flute

A0 to A6 in equal temperament, at any concert pitch from 430 to 450 Hz (442 Hz to start). It learns the room's background sound by itself while you are not playing.

Questions

Is there a tuner app for iPhone with no ads?

Yes. Simple Tuner with No Ads is free and shows no ads at all. It has no in-app purchases, no subscription and no sign-up, and it collects no data.

How accurate is it?

With test signals it measures within a few cents across its whole range, and it shows whole cents. In real use the result also depends on the instrument, the room and the iPhone's microphone. It is a practice tool, not a certified measuring instrument.

Can it tune a bass guitar or the lowest notes of a piano?

Yes. It reads notes from A0 (27.5 Hz) to A6 (1,760 Hz), which covers a five-string bass's low B and a piano's lowest A. An iPhone hears very low notes mostly through their overtones, so hold it close to the instrument.

Can I set A4 to 440 Hz or 442 Hz?

Yes. Concert pitch goes from 430 to 450 Hz in steps of 1 Hz. It starts at 442 Hz, and your choice is kept.

Does it show notes for B♭ or E♭ instruments?

Not yet. It shows concert pitch only, in equal temperament.

Does it record or send what I play?

No. Sound from the microphone is analyzed on the iPhone as it arrives and never recorded, stored or sent. The microphone is used only while the app is on screen, and you can turn it off with one tap.

Is it available for Android, iPad or Apple Watch?

It is an iPhone app for iOS 17 or later. It also runs on iPad as an iPhone app. There is no Android or Apple Watch version.

Made by a saxophone student who wanted a tuner that shows the pitch calmly, with nothing in the way.
